Larey van der Westhuizen
Larey’s combination of entrepreneurial, commercial and legal expertise makes him one of the most versatile and insightful members of the corporate governance fraternity. On the strength of his background, he has a 360 degree view of the governance challenges facing businesses of all sizes, across industries, placing our clients in highly capable hands.
For 15 years, Larey ran his own successful business in the international security and logistical support industry. He then sold his company to put his LLB degree to use in a commercial legal environment, where he gained in-depth knowledge of the Companies Act and corporate governance in general. During his career, he has made over 100 business presentations on the implications of the New Companies Act.
Larey is a member of the Institute of Directors and currently heads up the board support and governance services of our Pretoria and Johannesburg offices. He specialises in legal and technical consultation and in addition to being a non-practising admitted attorney, he is a qualified commercial mediator, accredited with the University of Stellenbosch’s Africa Centre for Dispute Settlement.
